Liberty Theatre
Eunice, Louisiana
Diverse Studio partnered with the Liberty Theatre on the historic renovation of this iconic community landmark, originally constructed in the early 1920s. For generations, the theater has served as a cultural destination and gathering place, hosting performances, events, and community celebrations while contributing to the unique identity and character of downtown Eunice. The project began with a careful evaluation of the existing building, including its historic features, circulation patterns, material character, and opportunities for modernization while preserving its architectural integrity.
The renovation focused on revitalizing the theater while maintaining the colors, textures, and details that define its historic character. Design interventions improved circulation throughout the facility, enhanced the visitor experience, and introduced a new bar as an extension of the lobby to better support events and community gatherings. Finishes, lighting, and architectural elements were thoughtfully restored and updated to create a cohesive and welcoming environment.
Material selections and preservation-focused detailing balanced contemporary functionality with respect for the building’s history. The result is a renewed cultural destination that celebrates the Liberty Theatre’s legacy while providing an engaging, accessible, and intentionally designed experience for future generations of visitors and performers.
